This series comes from a couple months spent on the Mexican Pacific. Among my many magical neighbors there were brown pelicans, great white egrets, orange-breasted buntings, golden-cheeked woodpeckers, San Blas blue jays, yellow-winged caciques, olive-breasted flycatchers, pink spoonbill cranes, red-headed white ibis, the ring-tailed tejon, and the papaya and mango-loving green iguana. Hopefully, there is a measure of their color, spirit, and energy living in these paintings.
