VozMaya is a Mayan language card deck now appearing in museum shops throughout North America, including the Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City, The Penn Museum in Philadelphia, and the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach. Our tagline—“It’s Yours and It’s Mayan” —is a playful comment on the incredible interconnection that is life on earth. And since it is quite possible that I was a Mayan king in a former life, creating the art for 32 VozMaya (Mayan Voice) cards was a particularly soulful project. As an American living part-time in Mexico the energy and proximity of Mayan and other pre-Columbian cultures remains an abiding inspiration.
